The Musical Heritage and Legacy of Jeff and Sheri Easter’s Children

In the world of Southern gospel music, few names evoke as much warmth, multi-generational talent, and deep-rooted family ministry as Jeff and Sheri Easter. For decades, the husband-and-wife duo has anchored themselves as royalty in the genre, accumulating multiple Dove Awards and Grammy nominations. Yet, ask Jeff and Sheri what their proudest achievement is, and they will invariably point closer to home: their three children, Madison, Morgan, and Maura.

Growing up tour buses, backstage at the Gaither Homecoming tours, and under the bright lights of stages across the country, the Easter children didn’t just witness their parents’ legendary careers—they actively inherited them.

A Legacy Carved in Harmony

Music is literally in the DNA of the Easter household. Jeff Easter is the son of James Easter of the renowned Easter Brothers, and Sheri Easter is a proud alumna of the legendary family group, The Lewis Family. When Jeff and Sheri struck out on their own as a duo in 1988, they laid the groundwork for a ministry that would eventually seamlessly incorporate the next generation.

The arrival of Madison, Morgan, and Maura expanded not only the family dynamic but also the creative energy of the group. Each child carved out a distinct path, blending family dedication with individual artistic pursuits.

Meet the Easter Children

1. Madison Easter (The Eldest)

As the firstborn, Madison spent a significant portion of his life traveling extensively with his parents, contributing instrumentation and vocals. Well before coming off the road full-time in his mid-twenties, Madison developed a sharp creative eye, working as a camera operator for the Gaither Homecoming Tours from a young age.

A gifted writer and musician, Madison married his wife, Shannon, and the couple eventually settled in Los Angeles, California. Together, they have continued writing and pursuing music while raising their two sons, Miles and Rhythm.

2. Morgan Easter-Smith (The Vocalist & Songwriter)

Following closely in her mother’s footsteps, Morgan captured the hearts of Southern gospel fans early on. Known for her soaring, expressive voice, she began performing with her parents full-time as a teenager and earned accolades like the Singing News Fan Award for Horizon Individual.

Morgan is also an accomplished songwriter. She married Landan Smith—who famously began playing drums for Jeff and Sheri as a young boy and toured with them for years. The couple welcomed a daughter named Ryman Pauline, keeping the tight-knit family circle growing.

3. Maura Grace Easter (The Youngest)

As the baby of the family, Maura literally grew up on stage—making her first appearance in front of an audience when she was just 11 days old. Alongside lending her talents to the family’s musical ecosystem, Maura has pursued her own creative outlets, including a passion for visual arts and musical theater.

Life Beyond the Stage

What makes the story of Jeff and Sheri Easter’s children so endearing to fans is the authenticity of their bond. In an industry where touring families can easily experience burnout or friction, the Easters have frequently spoken about how much genuine joy they find in each other’s company.

Even as Madison and Morgan have branched out into their own marriages, parenthood, and independent projects—and as Maura charts her own course—the family foundation remains rock-solid. They represent a rare bridge in gospel music: honoring the traditions of the past while gracefully handing the microphone over to a vibrant new generation.
